ABOUT TINL
There Is No Line is a collaborative effort between practicing immigration attorneys. We aim to provide actual facts in response to actual arguments and assertions (No “some say” or “it has been said” here) made by actual people—some of whom are merely misguided or misinformed, and others who we believe to be actively misleading the American public. We will give you their names, and we will show you their faces.
TINL‘s name is a reaction to mystifying assertions from both sides of the immigration “debate” (such as it is) that undocumented immigrants have “jumped the line” and should now “get in the back of the line.” The fact that reasonable, rational, educated people—including both of 2008′s major presidential candidates—who really should know better continue to refer to this mysterious “line” as if it exists was enough to inspire us to register this domain name; the rest just followed naturally as we continued to discuss our frustrations with other common misunderstandings about the American immigration system. (For a more comprehensive debunking of the “line” myth, try our inaugural post.)
While we make every effort to hew closer to objective fact than subjective advocacy, we are also unapologetically pro-immigrant—and, within proper legal limits, pro-immigration. We are proud of our nation and its long history of successfully integrating new citizens from around the world. While we have our own concerns with the current state of the system, we are doing our best each day to help our clients navigate it and our fellow citizens to understand it.
